Testimonials
Recently,
Mr. Scott Cole visited the Fox Run Elementary School to do Tai
Chi presentations for children in grades 3, 4 and 5. All
of these presentations were exceedingly well received by our students. Mr.
Cole established a wonderful rapport with students and served as
an outstanding role model for them as he was instructing them in
a special set of techniques and in many respects, a philosophy.
His presentations took place during a week of testing for the Connecticut
Mastery Test. This program helped us to release stress among students. It
also provided students with lessons in self-discipline. I
truly believe that our children got a lot out of this program and
would
gladly have Mr. Cole return in the future.
As an educational leader, I strongly recommend Mr. Scott Cole and
his presentations regarding Tai Chi as a valuable enrichment program
for your school.
Sincerely,
Alfred M. Treidel,
Principal

Dear
Scott,
I just wanted to thank you for the inspiring Tai Chi "Get Fit America" programs
you presented at my children's Elementary School. The children
had loads of fun. But more importantly, I was deeply touched by
the way that they took in the messages of tolerance, non-violence, flow
(avoiding conflict) and living a healthy lifestyle. Somehow, you
speak their language, which is not an easy thing to do in these complex
times.
...As you know, we are an inner city school and also a Bi-lingual school.
I know many of these children personally. I was impressed and moved
by t he way you were able to involve all children. The smiles
on the faces in the crowd literally brought tears to my eyes. They
really took in what you were trying to teach them.
Best wishes in taking this program nationwide. The hope and message it
brings is universal...or at least, it needs to become so.
Thank you for sharing your precious gift with us. Please return again
soon!

Dear
Mr. Cole,
On behalf of the third grade teachers at Fox Run Elementary School I
would like to thank you for the wonderful assembly you did at our school. The
way you were able to work with eighty plus children and keep them focused
and under control was amazing.
The children enjoyed doing the various moves you taught. As you noticed,
so did the teachers. I appreciated the way you addressed the children's
misconceptions about martial arts in general, and your movements in particular. Often
when children hear of an activity with an Asian name, they think
of violence. You stressed fitness and regular exercise, and defensive
moves if necessary.
I would like to see your program in many schools. You were great with
elementary school aged children. I think that middle school and high
school aged children would benefit from your program. I think they
would appreciate how attractive a very fit body is and want to know how
to achieve it.
I hope that the fact that you have been at Fox Run two years in a row
means that it is now an annual event.
Thank you for performing such a useful and enjoyable assembly for us.
Sincerely,
Pat Morrison

A
Letter to Schools, Parents, and Faculty:
It
is no secret that the levels of diabetes, depression, obesity, and
other eating disorders among America's youth are at an all-time undisputed
high with no signs of slowing down. Our kids' definition of play
often involves sitting in front of a computer, tv, or video game
eating junk food---and proper nutrition and adequate recess time
in schools has been severely cut. All that considered, it is no wonder
that our kids often feel alienated, depressed, hopeless, unhappy,
uninspired, and unimportant.
My goal is to bring fitness and wellness to America's youth in a way
that has never been done before, at a time when it is so needed, sparking
their interests, inspiring them to make a lifetime of healthy choices.
Thank you for choosing Get Fit America.

The
world according to kids:
In
a recent assembly at Brookside Elementary in Norwalk, Connecticut,
Cole asked the kids: "What happens when anger meets anger?"
The kids answered passionately, "A fight!"
" That's right," Cole replied, "And who wins?" he
asked.
In each of 6 assemblies, the timing was the same....after a pensive pause, the
children's voices compassionately answered, "No one."
